Freshman Sophomore Fencing Tournament 2014

Hey everyone!!

So I spent this lovely snowy Sunday at Ramapo high school to compete in their annual freshman sophomore tournament! It was such a fantastic experience. I fenced so many girls at my general level, and I made so many new friends. I love fencing girls. They're so chill. :)

Above is my medal. I placed third out of seventeen girls. Here's the thing though, I was actually supposed to be in second place. Our referees were actual high school students, and mine missed three calls. She gave the point to the other girl when in reality, they were my points. All in all, if the ref had called correctly, I would have placed second. But it's okay. I know I fenced my absolute best I know deep down that I'm the real second place winner. ;)

Everyone that competed was so tremendously sweet and caring (instead of shaking hands at the end, many hugged me!!). Fencing in the tournament was such a wonderful experience for me, and I'm definitely going to remember this day for a long, long time. If you have never tried fencing, I highly recommend it! It's such a wonderful sport, all about self-improvement, and you get the opportunity to meet so many amazing people.

I really have to owe my good friend Mercedes for my win today. Even though she was the sabre captain for a different team, she mentored/coached me throughout the entire tournament, and supported me throughout the entire super long day. She's such a blessing. I love her a whole lot :)

All in all, our team itself did fairly well. My good friend Kaden, also a sabre-ist, placed third like me, as did my sophomore foil friend, Rachel. On the other hand, another good friend of mine, Sean, placed second in sophomore sabre. I was cheering for him throughout the day, even though he's not on my team. Heeheehee whoops ;)

But most importantly, the highlight of my day was seeing this foilist with the last name Blades. I kid you not,  he's a fencer, and his last name is Blades. I'm dead XD

I EVEN TOOK A PICTURE FOR PROOF

And then there was the bus ride home with Bobby and Kaden where they snapchatted everyone in my contacts, which certainly was interesting......

So all in all, a pretty good day. :) Anywho, I apologize for not posting for a while. I've been pretty busy with midterms (they're this week by the way, so wish me luck!!) and homework, but I'm getting back on track. I'll soon post my Valentine's Day gifts and my January favorites. You'll just have to give me a little while :)
